A good 'light' story. The main character, Clara, is well developed, and the pen portrait of the prison is very effective without undue repetition. The writing is strong and you do not rush the plot. My only minor criticism is the mention of Duke Farlech about half way through the third chapter. Clearly he is a powerful figure, Lared's boss, but he plays no role other than to take Lared 'offstage' for a short time. There may be more chapters in which Farlech appears, in which case I apologise now. However, if that is all from Farlech you have introduced someone who does not really feature. A minor point, and any BDSM story that manages to interest me without actually having any sex scenes must be impressive.
Congratulations. (9/10)

Thanks to some exclamations and/or nametags, I have the feeling our dear Clare Seven has been playing some computer games before writing this piece ("by the Goddess"; see "Mass Effect 1" - "Thieves Guild"; see "The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion"). Even the town of Riverwake reminded me of "Rivellon" from "Devine Divinity"...
Incidental or purposeful references, it doesn't matter, because "The Riverwake Tower" is a great piece of work. Besides, we all have to get our inspiration somewhere, don't we.
Going through the story once more, I feel that Clare did a wonderful job drawing the surroundings, automatically giving the reader that feeling of being right there, in the middle of the action, seeing the torches flickering, casting their eerie shadows on porches and damp walls; hearing the shimmying of the horses, the rattling of the chains.
I don't know if clare has posted stories elsewhere --for this is her first here on the library (at least under this moniker); if "The Riverwake Tower" is anything to go by, I'd say a new talent has arisen.
Will keep a keen eye on both Clare and "The Riverwake Tower".
Great first entry, well done.
