I read this all in one sitting, and I did like 2 of the 3 inter-connected plot lines. There are other works by pamela that I think are much better, and the subject matter is not to my taste, but if one is interested in the tags listed, it is well worth reading. I do have to say that the third section of the story felt a little inconsistent with the previous parts. It seemed tacked on, for the sake of being shocking. I generally love how pamela's narrative flows; so consistent and elegant. This just doesn't have that for me. I have various and sundry other comparisons, but I guess the bottom line is that the ending lacked the nuanced and realistic feel that pamela usually incorporates into these stories. (8/10)

Quite a good story - deserves the highest rating the usual parallel narrative of two girls/women is there, but with side attractions like Delilah thrown in as bonus! The usual goodies like cigar burning, deep throat, breast beating are there. A new attraction is the car cigarette lighter. Keep up the good work, Pamela! Give us more! (8/10)

A near perfect story. A must read! I'm sorry, did I give a 9? I meant to give a 10. (10/10)

I think this story deserve a score 10 because it's a damn good story with plot. I read so many of the stories in BDSM that had a 9 or 9.5 score but not as good a story as this one. My opinion is: anything lower than 10 will be unfair to this story. (10/10)

- A valid view but I personaly dissagree and think that those stories should have a lower score.
Still there's a lot of preferences in play here and although you're technically not suppose to let that affect your ratings I'm afraid that we allow them to affect us sometimes. I know for a fact that several of my ratings will probably be different now if I read the stories again then they where when I first made them, partly because of slightly modified preferences and slightly because of more experience (and off course, thinking about it twice do help) Still, perhaps you're right and this story deserve a 9 instead of a 8 like I gave it. On the other hand... look at her other stories. Some of them really and truly do deserve a 10 and get it from everyone that's rated them so far. That means that she can do better then this although when you compare this story to the trash you usually see on this site it's tempting to think that it can't get better. On the other hand.. Perhaps it's not fair that us semi-vanila people rate the more extreme stories. Your review list include good ratings at C. A. Smith's stories (good stories by the way, but to extreme for a lot of us) so I see why this story attracts you :-)

- yishabeia, the hallowed ten rating is an honor that authors strive for. I know, I've been there and loved it when I got a perfect ten. Lincoln's statement about pleasing only some of the people, some of the time, is just as true in the writing industry as it is in politics. I'm sure the author appreciates your accolades, but casting aspersions on the other reviewers because we don't exactly agree with you isn't very courteous. We all have a different opinions and non are invalid, including yours. I personally try not to give out tens unless I can't find a single thing to critique about. It doesn't happen often. I'm sorry if my criteria for a higher rating offends you, but it's MY rating. Yours Faithfully, Michael Alexander (www.michaelalexanderstories.com)

Michael247 really said it all.. Like Michael247 I find the story a bit darker then I usually prefer but that's all a matter of taste. And I think the idea of an "murder" tag sounds interesting. I didn't really notice the lack of descriptions all that much but would have enjoyed them if they'd been there. Them being there or not helps setting the pace. At any rate a good story although I won't place it at the top of my list like Sedmwif seams to do. (8/10)

Outstanding! If you are not a fan of pamela, this is a great place to start. Might be one of the best stories posted, might be one of the best online! (10/10)

It's not often that you find a story that is loaded with things that repulse you and still find and consider it to be high quality. That's the case of Pool Party by Pamela. This story is chock full of things that disgust me, like scat play, and a few things that I'm a little uneasy about like incest. But regardless of how you feel about the wide plethora of deviance in action during this story, the reader comes to some basic conclusions. One, the author is a pretty damn good writer. Two, the author has a creative evil bent that is a pleasure to explore. *** The very first thing I have to say about this story is that it actually has a plot. Considering some of the other works of fiction here at the BDSM Library, this is a major leap upward. Even more interesting, the author creates three parallel stories, each with their own characters, links them together at the beginning, and then has them come back together at the end. There was an actual climax, a surprise ending, and a lot of plot twists. *** All of which made for a very interesting read. Sexual tension was very well done and I found myself actually needing to take a break two different times during the entire reading. (You can assume what you want from that last sentence.) All in all I felt the author did a superb job in moving the plot along. *** So why didn't it score higher on my list? Well, my first issue is description. The author relies almost solely on dialog and action, which of course moves the plot along nicely, but fails repeatedly to set the scene. To be honest, this story is rather action intense. It's GOOD action to be sure, with deep emotion, tension, and interest, but all of the scene setting is done because something in the scene is required for the action, not because the author wanted to create an environment for the reader to envision. Like the pool. What shape was it? Square? Rectangular? Or was it shaped like a lima bean? What did Hoffman's bedroom look like? You catch my drift? And that also translated to all of the male characters. There was some basic hints, like height, but I truly had no idea what anyone looked like. *** There were a couple of plot holes and raised eyebrows as well. First of all, Cassie's behavior is well beyond believable. A true masochist that can take ANYTHING? Sure, in fiction, we all dream of that, but in a situation like this the likelyhood of finding a true sadist who is willing to deal out ANYTHING, finding a true masochist? Oh well...its fiction, right? Which brings us to Delilah's behavior. This wasn't as unbelievable, since many rape victims frequently blame themselves, but to allow further sexual degradation seems odd. I would have believed it had Delilah's teachers used some sort of psychological force or actual physical force on her to get her to submit, but she just literally bent over for it, believing she deserved it. Huh? That just seems convenient. It also didn't really matter. In the end Delilah ends up over at Cassie's house and considering that Hoffman ends up taking her by force as a slave, the entire build up of Delilah's descent into abject misery wasn't really necessary to the plot. She never accepts her role as a sex slave, never enjoys it (though with Hoffman and Rafer how could anyone?) and never really develops as a character, especially after she becomes an anchor at the bottom of the pool with Rita. *** Which brings us to the "snuff" part. Technically, this story is really a murder story, triple homicide really. It's not a snuff story. Snuff is about getting sexual gratification out of killing. Rafer might enjoy killing, but its not something he's doing in order to ejaculate. It's almost business. Personally, I don't mind this since I'm not a huge fan of snuff stories. But honestly, I wish the BDSM Library had a way to add a personalized rating to a story. "Murder" would have been very good for this one. *** I also want to give the author special kudos for finishing the story and posting in one clump. So many authors here at the BDSM Library write six pages of a novel and post it, hoping for great reviews. In this case the author wrote out a whole story, gave it to us in one sitting, and did so very aptly. *** So that pretty much wraps up my review. I really liked this one. It had most of the things that I look for in a great story and the author has a lot of talent. Granted, she's darker than I am, but hey, I can live with that. So read away.
