Most stories here deal with the diminishment of self in some way and in particular circumstance. The good Doctor takes this to a logical end with this story. Well written and creative, it is at least for me haunting in its ferocity. I think it suggests a sequel from the POV of one of the recipients of the unexpected tapes documenting her suffering. Maybe that person investigating the source of the tapes and the cause of her downfall? Would forgiveness from just one of her victims alter the landscape at all? *hint-hint* :) Thanks for the great read! (10/10)

I liked this story very well. The heroine is sacrificing herself of doing bad things to the world. When I compare this story to the Nola Story by Strap I think this one is better because of the shortness and the idea that the girl is delivering herself directly to liberating the society from herself. I liked the direct confrontation and the severe humilation of the heroine!!

Inventive, tough tale. Ending telegraphed? To a degree, though I thought Renaud might be the one to turn the tables on Laura. Well done, as usual. (9/10)

This is certainly an inventive, well written and exciting story, but the outcome is rather obvious from early on and it does take quite a time to get there. In that respect, it is a little frustrating. The only question is whether Laura will give herself over or be double-crossed by Renault. The outcome (when it eventually comes) is neither a surprise nor especially interesting. Still, a good and descriptive story with much to commend it. (6/10)

The story started with great potential but very early on it was quite apparent who the inmate was to be. What a turn-off. (1/10)

- Actually, my story is the original. `Curt Strap' modified my story to fit his own taste and added a new section in the middle. It's apparent where he edited in his new section and then returned to the original. When I emailed him about his use of my story he apologized and promised to give me credit for the original. If you look at his story listing you'll see that he gives credit to "The Island" as "Based on a story by Dr. Phil."
